Either email or call us to discuss your security guard courses. Your security guard course commences with an information session, followed by completing a pre-course assessment. This assessment has been mandated by the NSW Police Force and is required by all persons who wish to undertake NSW Security Licence course. This assessment is not designed to stop you from entering any of our security guard courses. It merely assesses how much assistance you will need during the course or needs to undertake further development before commencing the course.

Face to Face Training Options
On completion of online training, you will be eligible to commence your security guard course face-to-face classes. The face-to-face part of our security guard course is scheduled over 10 days. Most of our security guard courses run from Monday to Friday. However we do run occasional weekend courses.
Approved SLED Course for NSW Security Licence
Multisec Training is a registered training organisation offering, RTO 45548, the CPP20218-Certificate II in Security Operations course is approved by SLED for the NSW Security Licence Course.
The NSW Security Licence Course Online Component
Your online learning must be completed by all students who undertake a security training course in NSW. Your course must only be offered by a training company that has been approved by NSW Police to run and offer security guard courses. Your online learning will arm you with the knowledge required to complete your security guard course.

The pre-qualifications required to obtain a NSW Security Licence and begin a career as a Security Guard are gender-neutral, applying equally to both males and females.
If you’re considering a career as a security guard in Australia, here are the qualifications and requirements you need to meet:
- You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for a Sydney, NSW Security Licence, Unarmed Guard, Class 1A.
- No Criminal History, a background checks will be conducted by NSW Police when you apply for your Security Licence on competition of the courseCPP20218-Certificate II Security Operations
- You must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have a visa that allows you unlimited work rights in Australia. It is important to understand that if you have a student visa, you are not permitted to enrol in a security course.
- Changes to Visa permit holders come into effect on the 1st June 2023.

The candidate sought to hold a Security Licence in NSW must operate as a Security Guard in NSW and be employed by a master licensee, or hold a master licence of their own.
You must also apply to the Security Licence Enforcement Directorate (SLED) for a licence. At the time of applying, you must provide SLED with 100 points of ID, your current first aid certificate and a CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations.
Once you decide to enrol into a NSW Security Licence course, you will be required to undertake a number of LLN tests.
This Pre-Course learning, LNN, language, literacy and numeracy skills. It is a test to evaluate people’s ability to understand and interpret daily situations, including work-related tasks. It believes that different training processes and live experiences significantly impact an individual’s ability to read, write, speak and make calculations for everyday life. The test involves exercises and quizzes prior to commencing your face to face security training classes.
The pre-learning can at times make the length of the security license course go for up to five weeks. However, you are in control of this and could, provided you reduce the length of time you take to do the pre-learning, which of course if self-paced, to as little as 3 weeks. This includes a week of pre-learning and 2 weeks face to face.
10 Days Face to Face learning is required to complete the Certificate 11 in Security Operations.
The security licence course is a short training course to change your Career to become a Security Guard in NSW
Multisec Training was the first provider in NSW to offer a Security Licence Enforcement Directorate approved Security Licence Course that went for two weeks.
All other providers at that time were only offering a three-week course. A number of providers have now followed suit, seeing the benefit to industry and to the students in a shorter, more targeted and relevant security licence course.
As previously stated, the length of Multisec Training’s security course is ten days face to face learning, as well as a number of days pre-learning.
Multisec Training has a number of very experienced trainers who come from various areas of the NSW Security and Law Enforcement industries.
Multisec Training is an Registered training organisation RTO 45548 and approved provider by the SLED, Multisec Training has been operating in the security sector for a number of years and provides Premium security training in Sydney.
This is to say, a training company that is approved to deliver the security licence course in NSW. A list of training providers can be located on the Security Licensing Enforcement Directorate website.
To obtain a security licence in NSW, you must first complete a CPP20218 Certificate II Security Operations, then you can apply to one of the NSW based approved training providers.
The length of the course with Multisec Training is 10 days face to face. If the pre-learning is taken into consideration, the length of the course could be as long as 5 weeks. However, you are able to reduce the actual length of the course if you are able to do your pre-learning quicker. Within the security license course , 13 units of competency need to be completed, to qualify for the security licence certificate. These units are:
- CPPSEC2101 Apply effective communication skills to maintain security.
- CPPSEC2102 Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team.
- CPPSEC2103 Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security.
- CPPSEC2104 Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations.
- CPPSEC2105 Provide quality services to a range of security clients.
- CPPSEC2106 Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques.
- CPPSEC2107 Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security.
- CPPSEC2108 Screen people, personal effects, and items to maintain security.
- CPPSEC2109 Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises.
- CPPSEC2110 Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security.
- CPPSEC2111 Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons.
- CPPSEC2112 Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises.
